Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN)

Eastern Connecticut Health Network's (ECHN) National Cancer Survivors Day and John A. DeQuattro Lecture Series event will be held on Thursday, May 17, 6-8 p.m., at The Windsor Marriott, 28 Day Hill Road, in Windsor (Exit 38 off I-91 North). The event is sponsored by the Eastern Connecticut Cancer Institute.

Yale Cancer Center & Smilow Cancer Hospital

Yale Cancer Center & Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven's Cancer Survivors Day is a chance for cancer survivors and their families to celebrate how far they have come. There will be a special guest speaker, a barbecue lunch, and plenty of family friendly activities.

Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC)

Connecticut Children's Medical Center's 5th Annual Cycle of Life is a special celebration for pediatric cancer survivors and children who are currently undergoing treatment. The event is both fun and educational and provides an opportunity for children and families to reconnect with their caregivers and friends. All of the proceeds raised will benefit the Division of Hematology and Oncology.  The event takes place at St. Joseph's College in West Hartford. Click here to register.  

 

Danbury Hospital

Danbury Hospital is holding its' 15th Annual National Cancer Survivors Day at the Ethan Allen Hotel at 9 AM.


Past events have drawn over 250 cancer survivors and caregivers. A speaker will be the keynote presentation on the value of laughter and humor in coping with stress of everyday life and life changing events. Other elements of the program include a buffet breakfast, local entertainment and modest gifts for each survivor. This is a morning to enjoy family, friends as well as enjoy the company other survivors. A true celebration of life.  For more information please click here. 

 

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital's Cancer Survivor's Day will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Eastwoods Country Club located at 1301 Torringford West, Torrington, Connecticut. The day begins at 10 a.m. with a large and varied brunch menu. We will have musical entertainment provided by Drew Chadwick on the piano, a short welcoming speech by a cancer survivor, an invocation by Rev. Richard Burgess, and a Motivational Speaker, Rich Digirolomo.  For more information please click here.

Norwalk Hospital

On June 7, 2012, Whittingham Cancer Center will be hosting a Cancer Survivorship Day at Norwalk Hospital. Our keynote speaker, Wendy Harpham, MD is an internist and cancer survivor. The title of her talk is "Happiness in a Storm: Embracing Life as a Healthy Survivor". In addition, we will be providing break-out sessions for patients on massage and reflexology so patients and their caregivers can learn different ways to take care of themselves. We hope to reach 250 cancer survivors from all over Fairfield County!

Bridgeport Hospital

Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport

Norma F. Pfriem Cancer Institute's 5th annual Celebrate Life Cancer Survivors' Event will take on a new twist this year. The celebration will be held in the late afternoon and will be a Barbecue at the Zoo with a number of special events planned for our survivors and family members. The event is being planned for 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. and will begin with a non-denominational blessing by Nancy Anderson, Director of Pastoral Care at Bridgeport Hospital, welcoming remarks from co-medical directors of NFPCI, Dr. Robert Folman and Dr. Scott Thornton, and entertainment from the Norma F. Pfriem Children's Choir, the musical trio "The Pears", and other special musical guests. Registration is required call 1-888-357-2396 by Wednesday, June 6. There is a limit of five people per family (survivor and four family members).
