The Cancer Survivorship Program at the UCONN Health Center
The UConn Survivorship Clinic is co-directed by Dr. Richard Everson, a medical oncologist with an expertise in cancer prevention, and Dr. Eileen Gillan, a pediatric oncologist from the Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
This unique combination of providers lends itself to providing a seamless transition of the young adult pediatric oncology patient in addition to adult cancer survivors.
Our Mission:
- A goal for all patients to develop medical autonomy, improved quality of life and a healthy lifestyle.
- Cancer screening and as appropriate, genetic counseling and testing to identify high risk individuals who could benefit from more comprehensive cancer surveillance.
- To provide, as appropriate, information and recommendations on known effective chemoprevention strategies for secondary cancer prevention.
Our Committment:
- The Oncology Departments at the University of Connecticut (UConn) and the Children's Medical Center (CCMC) are dedicated to improving the physical and emotional health of individuals with cancer, both on and off therapy.
- Our staff strive for preeminence in helping each survivor reach for and achieve their maximum potential and independence.
- We stress excellence, innovation, and leadership in providing the highest quality service, education, and research.
- Our combined UConn Survivorship clinic will provide a comprehensive summary of all your treatments, and an individualized follow up plan, which will be given to you in electronic or web based form.
